About
BetTrust Solutions is an independent practice founded by Jonathan Russell, drawing on thirty years of operational experience at the centre of regulated sports betting.
That career started in Securities and Futures Authority regulated spread betting at William Hill Index, then Ladbrokes Sporting Spreads, then to South Africa to establish the trading department of the first corporate sports betting operation on the African continent. From there to Victor Chandler Index in Gibraltar, joining a team assembled by Tony Bloom pre-Starlizard. Then Spreadex.
At Sportingbet, I was part of the team that built the first automated in-play and derivative markets in the regulated sector, the real-time pricing engines and dynamic risk frameworks that are now standard across every major sportsbook in the world. At Betway, I served as Global Head of Trading for ten years, building the trading function across 50+ sports and 40+ licensed territories from a casino-dominated start. The success of that work led to numerous board appointments across the Group's regulated entities in Europe, Latin America, Canada, and Africa.
The integrity work has been motivated by a continuing passion for sport and a desire to see those who seek to manipulate outcomes identified, marginalised, and sanctioned. I served three consecutive terms as Non-Executive Chair of the International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA), the global industry's primary integrity monitoring body. During that tenure I led the organisation's transition from European to global scope and worked directly with the International Olympic Committee, FIFA, UEFA, the FA, and the International Tennis Integrity Agency on coordination protocols. This led to a Senior Advisor role at IC360, where the work spanned integrity analysis, regulatory positioning, and the architecture of monitoring infrastructure for US regulated betting and the emerging event contract markets. IBIA and IC360 are the two major regulated betting integrity monitoring bodies. I am the only person to have held senior positions within both.
That experience now sits inside BetTrust Solutions. The practice is currently engaged in sportsbook trading and pricing strategy for operators in regulated and emerging markets; integrity advisory for operators, regulators, and governing bodies; prediction market governance and integrity infrastructure for the emerging US and international event contract markets; expert witness engagements in international sports betting litigation; module delivery for iGaming Academy; conference chairing at senior industry level; and published commentary on regulatory and operational developments.
The result is a practice grounded in three decades of operational reality. The trading floors that built the products that define modern sportsbooks. The governance position that shaped the industry's integrity infrastructure. The advisory work that connects them to the regulatory questions now being asked about sports futures, event contracts, and the architecture of market integrity for the next generation of regulated products.
